The Kintsugi Purple JB is a one-of-a-kind collaboration between Sondelli Guitars and Japanese artist Miho Kobayashi, inspired by the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi (金継ぎ).
The craft of repairing broken pottery with gold, celebrating imperfection as part of an object’s unique history.

Rather than concealing flaws, Kintsugi embraces them, transforming what was once broken into something even more precious. We carried that same philosophy into the instrument’s design: the body’s glue joints are accentuated with golden “repair lines,” symbolizing strength through healing, rebirth, and the timeless beauty of imperfection.

The deep violet lacquer, shimmering gently under light, reflects serenity and transformation — a visual metaphor for resilience. Each golden stroke was hand-painted by Miho Kobayashi, whose brushwork flows like rivers of light across the surface, blending traditional Japanese elegance with contemporary musical expression.

At first touch, the Kiri (Japanese Paulownia) body reveals its secret: it’s incredibly light and astonishingly resonant, breathing life into every note with clarity, warmth, and natural sustain.

Built entirely in Japan, this Jazz Bass-style (JB) instrument combines Sondelli’s tone philosophy with Gotoh hardware precision and Spektratone pickups, delivering both balance and soul.

This is the only Kintsugi Purple JB ever made — a singular creation, hand-painted and personally signed by Miho Kobayashi.
